GetThru has prepared several important updates to be released over the next week to help ensure an optimized and stable experience for all our clients during the upcoming high-volume primary and Giving Day season. These updates include changes that may affect how and when you choose to upload Groups and launch Campaigns and an increase in our managed calling hours. Please read on for those details.

Limits on Concurrent Group Imports

To ensure high system performance, beginning today, we are limiting concurrent group uploads to 3 at one time. If you have 3 group uploads running and attempt to upload a fourth group, you will see an error message. If you believe this limit will cause problems for your program, please email support@getthru.io to adjust your limits. Please see our group details guide for more information on this update.

Adjusted ThruTalk Calling Hours

Starting today, Tuesday, Feb 27th, ThruTalk will have extended managed calling hours

ThruTalk updated managed calling hours:

  • 9:00 am - 11:00 pm ET | Monday - Friday
  • 11:00 am - 11:00 pm ET | Saturday - Sunday

ThruText Campaign Launching

Beginning this week, ThruText campaign launching will not complete until the sending phone number is fully provisioned across all major carriers. In most cases, this provisioning process happens very quickly (under 1 minute), but in rare cases, it can take as long as a few hours. In those cases, your campaign will be visible under “Draft campaigns” while the launching process is ongoing. You will receive a notification in ThruText when this change goes into effect.

What does it mean for a number to be fully provisioned?

This is (yet another) 10DLC thing. Whenever we launch a campaign, we purchase a sending phone number for you, and we then associate that phone number with your TCR use case. Once that happens, each of the major carriers has to confirm that association and give us a “thumbs up.”

Why are we making this change?

This change is all about maximizing your deliverability. When text messages are sent via numbers that are not fully provisioned it can generate delivery errors. We are proud that our deliverability has always been above 90%, and this change will help keep it here.

Why are we making this change Now?

Until late 2023, we did not have programmatic (API) access to data about whether a sending phone number was fully provisioned. Now that we can access that information, we can incorporate it into our launching process.

What does this mean for you?

In some cases, it may mean that your campaigns will take longer to launch. Here’s some guidance on how to manage your texting given this change:

  • Plan ahead –  If you plan to text on a Tuesday, it will be safest to launch your campaigns on Monday (the day before). Just make sure to check your Start Date to prevent messages from being sent too early.
    • If you don’t know your texters at the time of launch, you can add them after launch and/or use our campaign sender invite and self-assignment features to let texters join the campaign after it is launched
    • If you are launching campaigns the day before, you can launch as many as you want simultaneously.
  • Stagger launching for same-day campaigns – Launching many large campaigns at the same time can delay provisioning.  If you are unable to plan ahead and need to send messages on the same day as a campaign is launched, you should avoid (where possible) launching more than two campaigns at once.
